Cashier



Primary Objective:

A Cashier is responsible for maintaining outstanding Guest service as per Company standards, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, cash register operations and safeguarding company assets.

 

This position includes but not limited to the following responsibilities:

 

1.)    Provide Guest Service and Satisfaction

  • Superior guest service by smiling, greeting, processing quickly and efficiently and thanking each guest.
  • Communicates guest needs or requests to Sales Manager
  • Offer assistance, and extra help to those in need
  • Selling products to guests, including selecting and reaching for products requested from shelves and display racks
  • Being well groomed and wearing proper uniform and name tag

2.)    Be an Effective Team Member

  • Making decisions quickly and accurately and communicating your decisions and ideas
  • Interacting and cooperating with other employees
  • To assist Manager to meet or exceed all corporate goals for the store
  • Following work lists promptly and thoroughly
  • Working safely – avoid injuries
  • Quickly respond to emergencies (power outage, gas spill, guest injury)

3.)    Cash Control and Inventory Control

  • Operating the cash register efficiently and accurately
  • Accurately counting inventory including cash, cigarettes, and lottery tickets
  • Running lotto machine and money order machine promptly and properly
  • Completing credit card transactions promptly and accurately
  • Alertly preventing and/or reporting drive-offs, shoplifting or theft
  • Doing shift paperwork efficiently and accurately
  • Keeping cash in drawer at acceptable limits for your shift
  • Efficiently receiving merchandise from vendors

4.) Adhere to Policies and Procedures

  • Follow shift change procedures
  • Follow policies and laws regarding restricted sale items
  • Conduct yourself in accordance to NOCO standards
  • Being on time and having good attendance
  • Adheres to policy on employee purchases while on duty

5.) Maintain Store Appearance

  • Keeping outside/inside of store clean and neat including
  • Cleaning gas pumps
  • Mopping and sweeping floors
  • Clean-up lot and gas spills 
  • Cleaning bathrooms
  • Collecting and disposing of all trash
  • Washing windows
  • Shoveling and salting walkways, and pump islands
  • Stocking cigarettes, grocery shelves, and coolers
  • Building and maintaining displays in and out of store
  • Stocking pump islands with towels, washer fluid, and squeegees
  • Front and face all shelves and coolers

6.) Job Safety and Emergency Situations

  • Working safely – avoid injuries
  • Cash handling procedures
  • Knowledge of gasoline shut-off devices
  • Operation of fire extinguishing equipment
  • Gasoline spills at pumps
  • Personal Safety (i.e. Lifting, robbery procedures)
  • Accident reporting procedures (guest and employee)

 

7.) Other Duties

  • Operating gas pumps for disabled guests
  • Handling Super Refunds
  • Preparing deli items
  • Properly handling out of date products

Requirements:

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
